Euro area factory-gate prices rose 1.9% in August

Eurostat's first estimate shows industrial producer prices rose 1.9% month on month in both the euro area and EU in August 2026. This measures prices received by producers, not household inflation.

Original document: 05/10/2026

Eurostat reported a 1.9% monthly rise in industrial producer prices for both the euro area and European Union in August 2026. Compared with August 2025, the agency reported increases of 8.2% and 8.0%, respectively.

Energy was a prominent part of the monthly euro-area increase: Eurostat reported a 5.6% rise for the energy grouping. The overall index also covers other industrial groups, and a single month's producer-price change should not be presented as a consumer-price reading.

The release describes first estimates for domestic industrial output and says the figures are neither calendar-day nor seasonally adjusted.
